On Saturday July 6th, 2013 and Sunday July 7th, 2013 the Affiliated Tribes of New England Indians will host their 3rd Annual First Light Powwow in Burnside Park (2 Kennedy Plaza, Providence, RI 02903), in the heart of Providence, RI.
Free and open to the public, the 3rd Annual First Light Powwow will take place from 10AM to 5PM on both Saturday and Sunday, and will feature traditional Native American Eastern Woodlands style drumming, dancing, food and storytelling. Vendors will also be available selling authentic Native American Arts & Crafts. Featuring the Eastern Medicine Singers and Artie Red Medicine, Powwow MC. All drums are welcome.
Additionally, on Saturday July 6th, 2013 at Sunset Waterfire Providence will partner with Affiliated Tribes of New England Indians to host a Unity Torch Lighting Ceremony to include participation by selected dignitaries from the local Native American and Rhode Island communities. The goal of the ceremony is to highlight the rich diversity, heritage and culture of Rhode Island in a spirit of harmony, unity and peace.
This Unity Torch Lighting Ceremony will be preceded by a 2nd Grand Entry into the Powwow Circle that will begin promptly at 7PM.
