WaterFire Arts Festival Plaza Featured Artist: Mike Bryce

WaterFire, in partnership with Bryce Studio, will begin hosting an artisan market, WarterFire Arts Festival Plaza, featuring artists and fine artisans who create handmade jewelry, sculpture, glass, paintings, photography, prints, and ceramics to display and sell their work during WaterFire nights beginning July 13. This outdoor show will be held on Washington Street, in the heart of WaterFire. WaterFire Arts Festival Plaza will offer visitors the opportunity to purchase artwork by Rhode Island-based artists and will add to their WaterFire experience. July 13 will feature artwork for sale by Mike Bryce, Harliquinn Designs, My Stonington Garden, TNI Design, New Moon Ceramics, The Utopian Collection, and more. WaterFire Arts Plaza will be open from 6pm to 10:30pm.

Mike BryceMike Bryce received his BFA in 1994 from the University of RI, and his MFA from Syracuse University in 1998.  For fourteen years, Bryce was a professor of fine art, illustration and design, teaching  at Massachusettes College of Art and the Art Institute of Boston.  Currently, Bryce is a full time fine artist, exhibiting throughout New England in  many galleries and festivals.  A very prolific painter,  his works in oils, acrylics, and watercolors can be found in numerous private and corporate collections.  Bryce resides on Providence’s historic East Side with his daughter Sienna.

Having worked across multiple departments, including a decade in production and recent years with the creative services team, Tim brings unmatched institutional knowledge to his new role. He will focus on strengthening internal systems and supporting the creation of new visitor experiences at both the downtown installation and the WaterFire Arts Center.

    I’m excited to check out the artist’s market at tomorrow night’s lighting. We’re big fans of both Waterfire and Mike Bryce. Thanks for using my photo of him… I feel famous! 🙂 You also used one of my favorite of his works… the Carr House. Love it!
