Ashley has vended at both @waterfireprov + the @waterfireartscenter showcasing an element of WaterFire’s impact - our organization of artist vending streets (which not only attract thousands of people) but also make a huge impact and support the sustainability and growth of small businesses that make a living here in PVD/RI by selling their artwork. Her studio is located right down the street from the @waterfireartscenter , in the Valley Arts District which is loaded with so many talented and unique artists. By making WaterFire inspired merchandise with local artists - our products celebrate community which is what WaterFire is all about. All proceeds support WaterFire as well as the local artists/businesses that we work with. ❤️🔥🙌🏼

#EarthDayEveryDay 🌎🌍🌏 This morning, dozens of volunteers (@waterfirevolunteer) geared up in their rain jackets, boots and ponchos ☔️ to pick up litter from in and around the Woonasquatucket River (@wrwc_ri)💧in Downtown PVD (@downtownpvdparks) and the Valley neighborhood (#ValleyArtsDistrict) near the @waterfireartscenter.
Also folx @waterfireartscenter did some screen printing led by @artlab.waterfire fellows with a fun #WaterFire themed #EarthMonth design by @waterfireinterns, Julie Zhu!
20 large trash bags were filled with litter from cups and plastic bags to fast food wrappers and cigarette butts. Plus many dead branches were pilled from the rivers as well.
A special thank you to Providence Parks Department and Rhode Island DEM for their support to making such a great impact with this clean up!!

Lighting occurs shortly after sunset and the fires will remain lit until midnight (unless otherwise noted). Full lightings include onshore programming such as performance stages, art and food vendors, and the Starry, Starry Night installation in Memorial Park.
Basin Lightings include the circle of twenty-two braziers in the Waterplace Park Basin and the eight braziers leading up to the Providence Place Mall.

Opening Thursday (May 2!) in the gallery ... Sculpting Silent Narratives: My Love Letters, a month-long solo exhibition by Janice Lardey (@jlardey) @waterfireartscenter. This exhibition is a poignant exploration into the untold stories and a tribute to the resilience of generations of women in Lardey’s family exploring themes of identity, societal expectations and belonging. The artist utilizes diverse techniques and styles experimentally and playfully to sculpt out the stories from these women. Lardey draws inspiration from the expressive potency of symbols and patterns found in West African textiles, infusing her artistic practice with their rich cultural significance. Through her meticulous use of patterns, symbols, colors, and abstraction, she reimagines these traditional motifs within her own narrative and creates a visual language to imbue her textile pieces with layers of meaning, uncertainty and emotions.
Each piece serves as a love letter, celebrating imperfection and inviting viewers into the tender vulnerability often associated with womanhood. Through interactive elements and collaborative storytelling with these women, the exhibition sparks conversations about gender roles, empowerment, self-love and rediscovery.
The exhibition is on view in the WFAC gallery from Thursday, May 2 through Sunday, May 26 with an opening reception on Thursday, May 2 from 6-9pm. An artist talk will take place on Thursday, May 23 starting at 6pm.
The third Thursday of the month, May 16, is @gallerynightprovidence, the WFAC gallery as well as other art spaces in the city are open late and trolley tours are available.

We have been honored to collaborate with @rhodeislandpbs to bring the ART inc. series to life in the gallery this month. “As human beings, we’re innately creative. When we open ourselves to this possibility, we realize that art is everywhere" shared Tracy MacDonald (@doteltracy), the Executive Producer, Arts and Culture at RIPBS, "We’re thrilled for the opportunity to collaborate with WaterFire for this exhibition. WaterFire shifted the creative culture of the city of Providence and the state of Rhode Island. Their work continues to serve local communities and expand creative possibility. This exhibition is the perfect way to bring ART inc. stories to life in person. This collaboration and curation is its own form of art.”

Are you ready to compete in the 2024 Volunteer Olympics? "Volympians" will be split up into teams and compete for the gold in "minute to win it" style competitions. Teams will play different types of games that may include different skills like agility, creativity, trivia knowledge, puzzle solving, etc. 🧩🤔🤾
The winning team at the end of the competition will win fame, glory, bragging rights, and go down in Volympics History! Are you ready?

Time to turn on those ovens, get out those measuring cups, and crack those eggs! Join us for The Great WaterFire Bake Off on Wednesday, February 21st at 6pm!
Bring a homemade treat for all to try, including the judges who will decide on a winning dish. After a winner is crowned and you’ve filled up your plates and bellies learn a new skill and join us for three crafts led by @waterfireinterns and @artlab.waterfire . By the end of the night, you’ll be leaving feeling full and with a handmade craft.
Are you willing to whisk it all and win the coveted Golden Whisk?
