The Christening of Artemis

Introducing Artemis! The newest member of the WaterFire fleet.

This morning months of hard work on our new boat, Artemis, was celebrated at Collier Park with a christening ceremony. WaterFire Providence’s “Float Our Boat” kickstarter campaign started on April 9, 2015 to start funding for our new boat. Artemis will be replacing our beloved Athena, who has been serving as our main work boat for the last 18 years. Here at WaterFire Providence we are very happy to introduce our new boat Artemis.

The Christening Ceremony started with a champagne toast to Artemis before she was lowered into the water. One of our donors, Mark Karas, helped to christen Artemis properly by popping a bottle of champagne before she took her first float. The ceremony was followed with refreshments and boat rides for our fans. The christening ceremony was a great way to introduce Artemis to the water and celebrate the hard work of many.
