Due to declining revenue from sponsorship, the long-term financial impacts caused by the pandemic and in an effort to reduce expenses, our summer WaterFire events will now end at 11 PM instead of midnight. Thank you for understanding.

Music Program

Join WaterFire Providence for a full lighting on Thursday, July 4, made possible through the support of the Providence Tourism Council (PTC). This full lighting is set to celebrate Independence Day and will have patriotic theming throughout the event. The lighting will begin at 8:40 PM and the braziers will remain lit until 11:00 PM.

Fireworks fans, please note that there will not be a fireworks display during the WaterFire lighting on July 4. Providence’s Independence Day Celebration will take place on Tuesday, July 2 in India Point Park featuring headliner Big Lux, beverages from Narragansett Brewing Company, food trucks, and more. The fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.

The WaterFire Artist and Maker Vendors will be located on Washington and College Streets from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM where visitors can browse and shop for a variety of goods such as glass, photography, jewelry, and more. Visitors can explore vendors including Recycled SilverWear, Bare & Brine, Design WhatHaveYou, Celeste Diaz Falzone, One Oliver, Mike Cohea / Visuals, Sparkles & Glow by Yvonne, UncouthCurations, Moonlight Jewelry, Jessie Jewels Art, Joseph Mushipi Visual Art, Revibed Vinyl, Roses + Dragons Designs, Pourever Creations, Candles By Judith, The Dapper Flapper, James Polisky, Broken Arrow Studios, Parched, Odetta’s, Maeven and Me, Into The Woods, Skoshie & Friends

The WaterFire Marketplace will return to Canal Street: stop by to support WaterFire with a donation or a purchase of locally designed apparel, jewelry, glassware, and gifts. Meet WaterFire Accelerate artists displaying their work as well as glass blowing by Gather Glass. WaterFire will also have additional information and merchandise stations in front of the RISD Auditorium, and on both sides of the basin in Waterplace Park.

Food fairs will be open on Canal Walk from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM as well. Enjoy local food from festival favorites: Kettle Korn Express, One2Taco&more, Pam’s Grill on the Go, Incredabowl, Gather Farm Ice Cream, Pita PocketDel’s Lemonade, Thrive Cakery, White Dog Distilling, and Newport Craft Brewing + Distilling Co.

R1 Indoor Karting will be located on Canal Street from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM.

Independence Day Flag Display

There will be a display of over 50 American flags flying along the river in Memorial Boulevard.

The Starry, Starry Night installation returns to Memorial Park near the Crawford Street Bridge; add your light to the night by wishing on a star or dedicate a luminaria candle lantern.

Enjoy WaterFire’s Cast of Magical Characters and Performers

Catch performances by fire spinners from Cirque de Light and a special appearance by Spogga. Andrew Anselmo, Origami Master will be hanging out all night at Market Square and visitors can find A Silent Soapbox living statue at the bottom of Washington Street Bridge and Canal Walk starting at sunset. Ten31 Productions will be illuminating the World War Monument in Memorial Park with a patriotic flare.

* There will be no Brazier Society Reception on July 4.
