For the seventh year, WaterFire Providence joins in a public awareness campaign about Hepatitis C as part of Dr. Lynn E. Taylor’s RI Defeats Hep C campaign. “After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Rhode Island’s hepatitis C virus infection (HCV) medical, public health and advocacy leaders will reunite and recommit to HCV elimination. On July 30, in honor of July 28’s World Hepatitis Day, health care workers across disciplines, from across Rhode Island, will join in collaboration, celebration and support of what can be achieved together. HCV is the second leading cause of infectious diseases in the U.S.” says Dr. Lynn E.Taylor, MD. “This year’s theme is, Test to Treat, to get all Rhode Islanders with HCV diagnosed and promptly treated and cured. C is for Cure – HCV is curable with eight to 12 weeks of safe, well-tolerated medications! We honor five Lead Torchbearers who continued to light the way in preventing illness, death and suffering due to HCV through the challenges of COVID-19. They are Alan Epstein M.D., Jennifer Clarke M.D., M.P.H., Osvaldo Lugo, Megan M. Pinkston-Camp M.A., Ph.D. and Sophie Sprecht-Walsh L.P.N.”
The WaterFire Arts Festival Plaza kicks off Washington Street and Steeple Street from 6:30 PM to 11:00 PM where visitors can browse and shop from a variety of local artists and makers in mediums such as glass, photography, jewelry, and more. This outdoor artisan fair will showcase some of the great artwork created in Rhode Island and offer visitors the opportunity to support the local arts economy by purchasing work by Rhode Island-based artists. WaterFire Accelerate Artist, Ysanel Torres, will have her artwork displayed for purchase on Steeple Street.
WaterFire Marketplace will return to Canal Street, stop by to support WaterFire with a donation or a purchase of locally designed apparel, glassware, books, and gifts. Make a quick and easy donation with DipJar, pin where you are from on Map Center’s maps, and watch glass blowing by Gather Glass.
Stop by the Steeple Street Stage and enjoy a few sets with Dan Mach Nolt Quartet beginning at 8:00 pm.
The Brazier Society will be located in its usual home in Market Square. This year’s Official Brazier Society Sponsors are Fire Works Catering, McLaughlin & Moran, Anchor & Hope Wine, and Golden Gate Studios.

The living statues from Ten31 Productions will be in Memorial Park at the base of the World War memorial.
The Starry, Starry Night installation returns to Memorial Park near the Crawford Street Bridge; add your light to the night by wishing on a star or dedicate a luminaria candle lantern.
Food fairs will be open on Washington Street. Additional vendors will be located on College Street including Madonna Rosario Society, Pams Grill on the Go, Spanglish, and Vegan Suga.
