“Don’t Worry, You’ll Get Used to the Smell” The History and Works of Tannis Root, is a month-long exhibition at the WaterFire Arts Center gallery. Produced by FADED and Tannis Root Productions; the exhibition features a deep dive into the prolific career of the design team, Tannis Root. On view from Thursday, August 24 though Sunday, October 8, 2023 with an Opening Reception on Thursday, August 24 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. as well as TroopTop a rooftop bar with neighborhood restaurant Troop PVD. Additionally, FADED 2023 is happening in the Main Hall on Saturday, September 2.
Other events are TroopTop on Thursday, August 31 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Gallery Night Providence on Thursday, September 21.
The exhibition showcases the lineage of the group’s career from early screen printing techniques to designing for some of the most iconic bands of the alternative and independent music scenes such as Redd Kross, Nirvana, Hole, and Sonic Youth. The exhibition was curated by Tannis Root Productions and will also feature contributions from Sergio Aguila of Nic Fit + Sonic Life Archive a personal collection of one a kind merchandise and ephemera.
The WaterFire Arts Center store + gallery hours* are Wednesday – Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Thursday, 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
The Faded Show is a one day only convention on Saturday, September 2nd, showcasing the art and business of vintage t-shirts and beyond. The show features a choice array of dealer booths, a designated trade pit and special guest appearances from authors and artists behind some of the most coveted vintage shirt designs. The day long event will include food trucks, a roof top bar and live DJs. The Faded Show is a ticketed event.
