Todd Brodeur, Superintendant with TRAC Builders, kindly agreed to give us a guided tour of the construction site last week, sharing with us an overview of the many tasks being accomplished as the building and the site at 475 Valley Street are prepared for renovation and construction.
This early work involves the remediation of hazardous materials that were used in the construction of the building, and of dangerous wastes that were dumped and spilled into the soil around it. The work also includes the installation of many of the services (water, electrical, waste) that the building will use into its future.
By far the most visible task accomplished so far has been the removal of the 75+ windows, which are now replaced with wood panels to protect the building.
Stay tuned, in a month we will meet with Todd again and see what progress has been made!
