Hello! we were visiting water fire from NJ last evening and we were positioned in front of the Providence Mall. is there a reason why the water fires were not lit in front of us? we stayed until after nine o’clock waiting and although they were lit farther down the river, the ones in front of us were not lit. It was rather disappointing.
Because of the fact that our river is tidal, not all of the braziers can be lit all of the time. Sometimes we are able to have the Providence Hurricane barrier closed which keeps the water level in the river at height where all sections of the river will remain navigable during the whole event. Unfortunately we were not able to make this happen at the last event. Sorry to disappoint. The event designed to be walked, and while realize this is not an option for all of our visitors, next time you can experience more of the event by exploring the rest of the installation.
Regards, Tim
