Gather to make a mushroom log on the morning of Saturday, April 15 within the WaterFire Art Center gallery exhibition Interconnected produced through a creative partnership between Gather Farm and WaterFire Providence.
Farmer Peter Campbell and Forager Florence Wallis of Gather Farm will walk you step by step through the process of cultivating your own mushroom log. From identifying the trees, drilling the holes, and inoculating your logs you will experience first hand the rewarding techniques of growing shiitake mushrooms.
This class is fun for beginners, families, mushroom enthusiasts, gardeners and anyone interested in learning the art of growing their own sustainable food source. Each participant will leave with their own mushroom log.
The workshops are one hour in length and are offered for up to 4 people at a time.
The workshop is free and space is limited, please register in advance. Two sessions are available, starting at 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Workshops are full. Visit gatherfarm.com for classes and more at the farm.
