June + July TroopTop Thursdays: DJ Series + #ArtOnTap

WaterFire Providence and Troop PVD are taking it outside at the WaterFire Arts Center this summer for TroopTop Thursdays, every week 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Everyone is invited —friends, neighbors, colleagues— to enjoy Thursday night drinks (and snacks!) all locally curated by Troop PVD, music by local DJs and arts experiences both inside and outdoors. Sip drinks from Revival Brewing Company, Anchor & Hope Wine, Granny Squibb’s, Yacht Club Soda, and TroopToptails with ISCO (The Industrious Spirit Company). TroopTop Thursdays are supported by our next door neighbors at US Rubber Lofts, proudly managed by Brady Sullivan Properties.

‘On Tap’ for June 17 – July 29:

Thursday, June 17

TroopTop welcomes DJ Sim Sima and #ArtOnTap artists Jeremy Schilling, Derek Raymond, Laura White Carpenter, and Jack Wang. Enjoy light eats from Barrett’s Garden. DJ Sim Sima, Chris Simonelli, is supporting these events on two levels, being the June 17 DJ and helping to develop TroopTop as part of Troop’s ownership team. Meet Jeremy Schilling and Derek Raymond while they live paint throughout the night (and follow them on Instagram @jeremyschil and @two_tears). Laura White Carpenter (@theartistinresidence) will join us for her second TroopTop, get to talk to Laura as she demonstrates her ceramic detail carving “sgraffito” one of her raindrop sculptures. Directly below the RoofDeck, meet artist, Jack Wang (@jackwangart), among his work in the Visitor Center Gallery inside the WaterFire Arts Center, Faith Resilience Perseverance: Photographs by Jack Wang. All proceeds from the sale of Jack Wang’s photographs in the gallery will benefit Dorcas International.

June 17 is also the third Thursday of the month so it’s Gallery Night Providence, which will be both in-person and virtual with Facebook Live. See a full list of member galleries here for a self-guided tour. Walking tours will take place around the city including one in the Valley/Olneyville neighborhoods starting at the WaterFire Arts Center with stops at The Steel Yard and The Gallery @ Sprout CoWorking.

Over the last 10+ years, alongside some incredible co-workers and volunteers, I've worked to build the organization that WaterFire Providence is today. As Director of Creative Services, my team and I work on visual communications, graphic design, the visitor experience, merchandising as well as project management for programming at the WaterFire Arts Center. Being a part of the 'Rhode Island' experience for tens of thousands of people is incredible and I have an intense pride in place for both Downtown Providence and the Valley neighborhood.
