Gallery Night at the WaterFire Arts Center

On the third Thursday of the month (March – November), Gallery Night Providence (GNP) curates multiple timed trolley and mini coach tours organized with partner galleries. All are welcome to explore the galleries on their own too, GNP Galleries, or see what GNP has put together for monthly suggestions to ‘Make Your Own Tour‘.

This month, Thursday, May 18, one of Gallery Night Providence’s trolley tours will leave the WFAC at 6:30 p.m. and visit three other art spaces, RI Center for Photographic Arts, Cafe Choklad, and The Gallery at Sprout CoWorking, before returning to the WaterFire Arts Center. Free parking is available in the WaterFire Arts Center parking lot and attached ALCO parking lots. Reserve a spot for this 6:30 p.m. tour leaving from the WFAC.

Thursday, May 18, 6:30 pm free guided art tour leaves from the WaterFire Arts Center.

On view in the WFAC gallery —from Thursday, May 4 through Sunday, May 28, 2023— is Merge, the largest to date One Gun Gone exhibition. The exhibition combines art and activism through the creation and sales of art made from disarmed guns. In addition to pre-pandemic visual artwork, the exhibition includes the unveiling of welded metal sculptures. ArtLab@WaterFire fellows were involved in creating these sculptures as part of a new collaboration between Princes 2 Kings, a Providence Boys and Girls Club teen program, and the Steel Yard. An artist panel and community discussion will take place on Thursday, May 25 starting at 6:00 p.m. Learn more about the exhibition, here: waterfire.org/merge.

Also happening at this month’s Gallery Night is a Walking Tour starting at 5:00 p.m. leaving from the Graduate Hotel. One of the stops is to the Graduate’s Artist in Residence space, where the 2022-2023 WaterFire Accelerate artists currently have studio space. Savaree “Sav” Hazard-Chaney, one of the artists, will be there to show her art and studio space.

Thursday, May 18, 5:00 pm free guided art tour leaves from the Graduate Providence.

Visit gallerynight.org for details on all their available trolley & mini coach tours, on the third Thursday of each month, including reserving your spot ahead of time on the timed tours.

The WaterFire Arts Center store + gallery hours are Wednesday – Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and open late every Thursday, 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
