WaterFire Providence was honored among others in the industry for its positive impact on the RI tourism and convention scene at the annual Providence Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau (PWCVB) Ambassador Award Luncheon. Barnaby Evans accepted the award on behalf of WaterFire Providence and for all the work of our volunteers and staff.

There are so many people who join with us to make the magic happen in the streets of Providence. I accept this award in everyone’s name while wishing thanks to so many people who make it all possible.

The PWCVB Ambassador Award.

PWCVB President and CEO Martha Sheridan cited Barnaby and WaterFire Providence for their Loyal Partner Award with these words:

Many people know that Barnaby Evans and WaterFire Providence have heightened Providence’s profile as a Creative Capital and a highly-regarded arts destination. Our tourism partners also know that WaterFire is a top draw for leisure visitors and helps to fill hotel rooms on summer weekends.

What most people might not know is how WaterFire impacts our meeting and convention business. On the sales side, it is a unique and unusual opportunity for our clients. Planners who sponsor WaterFire are able to give their attendees once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Barnaby also became an ambassador this year, when WaterFire brought the 2013 Art of Placemaking Conference to the Omni Hotel in November.

It is my pleasure to present Barnaby Evans with our Loyal Partner Award.

In the past WaterFire has been featured at many of the conventions that the PWCVB brings to Providence including: Necronomicon Providence 2013, Netroots Nation 2012, the Northeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives Annual Meeting in 2012, IEEE Power and Energy Society Conference & Exposition in 2011, The Coalition of State Governments Conference in 2010, The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Annual Meeting in 2010, and The U.S. Conference of Mayors Annual Meeting in 2009.
