WaterFire Providence, one of the leading creative placemaking practitioners in the country, is currently seeking an individual to join its Production Team. Working as part of our production department under the direction of the Production Manager, this individual will be intimately involved in the coordination and production of all lightings and special events produced by this world-renowned arts organization. The WaterFire Production Staff Team Member position will report directly to the Production Manager. Along with assisting in general event equipment upkeep and event support, this individual will work with the WaterFire Production team responsible for but not limited to – boat maintenance, river maintenance, and event equipment maintenance. This position requires the ability to perform basic carpentry, painting, and work with a variety of power tools. Individuals should have some knowledge of event audio, lighting, and sound equipment.
As a member of the WaterFire Production team, you will also be involved in the setup and coordination of all WaterFire Providence event lightings including tent installation, boat wrangling, on-shore station setups, and other event-related art installations. Production team members also play a key role on our Special Ops team helping set up and organize many of our sponsor torch processions and other event surprises. If you enjoy non-stop, fast-paced event coordination, this position will keep you moving. The position will require you to work with and lead our volunteer teams not only during events but during weekly work calls to accomplish the many ongoing tasks at hand. The individual in this position must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills along with following directions closely. Must be a team player. The position also requires attendance at all WaterFire event lightings (approx. 20 events from May through December). This is a full-time, year-round position.
The desired candidate should be responsible, flexible, personable, and overall fun to be around. You must have the ability and interest to work long hours outside during events in any type of weather. We ask that you can comfortably and safely lift and carry at least 70 lbs and that you have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. This position at WaterFire Providence also requires a candidate with basic computer skills including experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.
