WaterFire Providence, one of the leading creative placemaking practitioners in the country, is currently seeking an individual to join its growing team. The WaterFire Arts Center (WFAC), a brand new facility opening soon, will enable us to grow as an organization and work to improve and expand our impact on the community. Working in coordination with the Production Manager, this individual will serve as the Facilities Associate and will be responsible for providing proactive maintenance and responsive service for repairs and projects for the WFAC. Candidates for this position will also provide general troubleshooting support and act as the WaterFire liaison during WaterFire Arts Center events.

  • An understanding of and belief in the mission of WaterFire Providence and vision for the future of the WaterFire Arts Center
  • Performs general custodial and maintenance tasks to maintain base levels of operations, including, but not limited to the following:
    • Stocking and cleaning all facility restrooms
    • Removing all facility trash/recycling and ensuring it is separated into the proper containers
    • Washing and general upkeep of facility floors, walls, and other components
    • Maintain a well-organized inventory of maintenance supplies and tools and advise Production Manager regarding needs of supplies and tools
    • Plan and perform basic repairs and other preventative maintenance tasks as needed
  • Exterior grounds upkeep including landscaping and snow removal
  • Ensures all programs and events within the WFAC comply with all applicable codes for places of public assembly in terms of Fire and Americans with Disabilities Act
  • WaterFire representative for events taking place in the Arts Center
    • Providing access for clients, vendors, and other parties utilizing the Arts Center
    • Aiding in general facility operations including lights,restrooms, and door access
    • Maintain safe, orderly, and clean facilities during events occurring within the WFAC
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Production Manager


  • Minimum High School equivalency
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple demands at any given time
  • Willingness and flexibility to meet the changing requirements of the job
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Follow and communicate safety procedures to prevent work-related injuries
  • Ability to handle flexible hours (availability on weekdays, weekends, and evenings are required)
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team, contributing positively to team operations and working relationships
  • Creativity, drive, enthusiasm and initiative to carry out projects to conclusion
  • Knowledge of Gmail, Microsoft Office, and Google (Drive, Documents, & Calendar) strongly preferred
  • Forklift and Scissor Lift skills a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
