When you enter the WaterFire Arts Center there’s a multi-use visitor room around the corner from the store, if you’ve visited you may have seen artwork on the walls, participated in a community discussion, experienced a FringePVD performance or maybe checked in to a large event in the Main Hall. While we’re not walking into that room together this Thursday we are able to all experience art through this showcase of local artists from across the state – just virtually.
The Virtual #ChooseRI Gallery is a day of sharing work from Rhode Island artists organized by Millennial RI, a generational networking group, and our staff, Bess Butterworth and Nicole Nehiley. Starting at Noon on Thursday, May 21 both the Millennial RI and WaterFire social accounts will share work by artists in posts and stories. Follow @millennialri and @waterfirenewflame on Instagram to meet local artists and experience their work. Re-posts and shares are encouraged! Also, reach out and connect with the artists (their Instagram accounts will be tagged!), ask questions, share your experience, and support them and other local artists by buying art!

It’s also the third Thursday of the month, so it’s Gallery Night Providence, some partner galleries also have virtual.

About the author
Over the last 10+ years, alongside some incredible co-workers and volunteers, I've worked to build the organization that WaterFire Providence is today. As Director of Creative Services, my team and I work on visual communications, graphic design, the visitor experience, merchandising as well as project management for programming at the WaterFire Arts Center. Being a part of the 'Rhode Island' experience for tens of thousands of people is incredible and I have an intense pride in place for both Downtown Providence and the Valley neighborhood.
