My husband and I watched your video WaterFire the Heart and Soul of a City last night. We were at the first fire (with music from boom boxes on the river banks!) on that freezing New Year’s Eve in 1994, and have been coming ever since, first from Tiverton and now from our home in Providence. The film is beautifully put together, and while we enjoyed it all, we were especially touched by the extra of Barnaby’s stories!

im so disappointed that it starts at 4:30 on a Friday. We live on Cape Cod and the kids don’t get home from school until almost 4. It would be a much better Saturday event.

The event does run until 9:30 p.m. and Santa’s village only opens at 6:00 p.m. You should have plenty of time to make it the event and have a good time.

My anniversary is tonight and I thought being part of this special Waterfire would be a nice way to celebrate it. Unfortunately I have a broken foot. Any suggestions regarding dining where we can perhaps enjoy some of it? Hemenways? Thank you

Tonight’s lighting is only taking place in the Basin of WaterPlace Park (below the Providence Place Mall). Jacky’s Waterplace is the best place to see the lighting tonight, but any of the restaurants in Union Plaza (Union Station Brewery, Capitol Grille, Bar Louie, Luxe Burger, etc.) are only a very short walk away.
