Basin lightings include the circle of twenty-two braziers in the Waterplace Park Basin and the twelve braziers leading up to the Providence Place mall. Partial lightings usually include all of the braziers from Providence Place Mall to Steeple Street.

WaterFire Providence, the award-winning sculpture by artist Barnaby Evans, announces a special partial WaterFire on Saturday, April 8th. The lighting is sponsored by Hemophilia Federation of America. The 32 braziers in the Waterplace Park Basin and in front of the Providence Place Mall will be burning brightly to honor Hemophilia Federation of America’s Annual Symposium. Lighting will commence at approximately 7:20 PM and the fires will remain lit until 11:00 PM.

Hemophilia Federation of America (HFA) is a national nonprofit dedicated to assisting and advocating for the bleeding disorders community. HFA is pleased to sponsor the first WaterFire of the season on Saturday, April 8, 2017, in conjunction with the annual HFA Symposium, being held for the first time, this year at the Rhode Island Convention Center, April 6–9, 2017.

“Hemophilia Federation is thrilled to be a part of the 2017 debut of WaterFire! We see this as a marvelous opportunity to connect with the Providence community, and further our outreach efforts to educate the local public about bleeding disorders. We will also be looking nationally as we recognize our network of 45 member organizations across the USA during the welcome ceremony.”

– Kimberly Haugstad, HFA President and CEO

HFA is pleased to work in partnership with its local member organization, the New England Hemophilia Association (NEHA), to bring over 1,300 members of the bleeding disorders community to Providence for its first conference in the New England area.

The event will begin with a torch and flag procession leading into a Ring of Fire to honor the member organizations of HFA from across the country who will be gathering in Providence.

There will be a display of art by children in the HFA community on the basin stage during the event.
