WaterFire Providence, one of the leading creative placemaking practitioners in the country, is currently seeking an individual to join its growing team. The WaterFire Arts Center (WFAC), a brand new facility opening soon, will enable us to grow as an organization and work to improve and expand our impact on the community. Working in coordination with the Creative Services Manager, this individual will serve as the Visitor Support and Store Rep and accomplish organizational activities including WFAC first impressions for visitors, the WaterFire Store salesperson, as well as clerical and administrative functions. Candidates for this position will also be involved in merchandise inventory and the evolution of the brand new WFAC from product display and marketing to the growth of our WFAC visitor experience including facility tours.

This role is an entry-level position and is perfect for someone who is a friendly, passionate professional who enjoys merchandising, collaboration and behind-the-scenes work in support of a great cause. It offers the opportunity to become deeply engaged with a world-renowned arts organization and its community. This individual will gain firsthand experience in effective communication, merchandising, multitasking and planning to increase the capacity of a small and growing non-profit organization that is known internationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • An understanding of and belief in, the mission of WaterFire Providence
  • Welcome visitors by greeting, welcoming, directing and connecting them appropriately with the right staff member and/or volunteer(s)
  • Maintain knowledge and communicate information about WaterFire Providence, the WFAC and WaterFire Store merchandise
  • Receiving and sorting daily mail/deliveries/couriers
  • Participate in counting and tracking the store’s physical inventory
  • Ensure stock levels on the sales floor are maintained continually
  • React to all concerns of customers quickly with a sense of importance
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of displays and the entire store
  • Process sales transactions at the POS (point-of-sale) counter
  • Organize merchandise pricing, signage and coding
  • Execute special orders and help complete online store orders

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in retail sales and customer service
  • Organizational skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle flexible hours (weekdays, some evenings, and attend all WaterFire lightings throughout the WaterFire season)
  • Creativity, drive, enthusiasm and initiative to carry out projects to conclusion
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google (Drive, Documents & Calendar)
